  • The Stenstroms’ story begins in 1899 when the Swedish tailor August Stenström found himself overwhelmed with orders. His reputation as an outstanding shirt fashioner had spread in town. All the elegantly dressed men in Helsingborg wanted one of his masterpieces, and Stenström found it hard to keep up. To meet the needs of his sophisticated clients, he decided to build a shirt factory. Under Stenströms’ strict supervision, a larger number of quality shirts could now be produced.

With time, his business flourished, and word spread far and wide. More people discovered Stenströms’ garments, e.g. many of the well-travelled and demanding sea captains that sailed through the harbor of Helsingborg. Returning to their home countries dressed in Stenströms’ elegant outfits, they unknowingly helped him become a global exporter.

Still today Stenströms is internationally renowned for its pristine quality. Using only the best fabrics and trims, we craft classic and contemporary clothing including shirts, sweaters, vests, blazers, and athleisure wear. The perfect fit and feel based on 120 years of sustainable craftsmanship.

  • Quality designer shoes. Made in France. Our "Goodyear" and "Norwegian" welted shoes, as well as some of our "blake" welted shoes, are all manufactured in Saint Jean de Moirans. No less than 150 manual operations are needed to make them. As many as in 1908, at the initial foundation of the company! Over the years, our family-owned company has always chosen to retain the most authentic production methods, such as "Norwegian welted" and "Goodyear welted", to perpetuate the values that established the company's reputation: durability, comfort, finishing and timeless qualities. Since 1927, Paraboot has manufactured most of its rubber soles, a unique skill. Other "Blake stitched" models, designed by our stylist, can be made in bordering countries in factories with specific knowledge, unfortunately missing in France. Paraboot has become an internationally renowned shoe brand. The combination of elegance, comfort and solidity has won over sophisticated clients including Jean Reno, Bernard Giraudeau, Francis Huster, Vincent Lindon, Harrison Ford, George Clooney and Matt Dillon – along with Charlotte Rampling and Vanessa Paradis. And before them, a great many sportsmen and women and adventurers have also worn Paraboot shoes – among the first of whom was Paul-Emile Victor.

  • Inis Meáin is one of the three Aran Islands that lie on the far edge of Europe, thirty miles off the western shore of Ireland. It’s a place of wild and rugged beauty that has enchanted many a visitor. But to make a living on the island has always called for a spirit of independence, resourcefulness and innovation.

For centuries, the fishermen’s garments have been designed, knitted, and woven by the women of the island. Stitches that have evolved through the generations reflect the unique island environment: turbulent, amazing seas and skies, wild flora and labyrinths of stone walls. They are all echoed in the diamonds, cables, tree of life, moss and other patterns.

Inis Meáin Knitting Company was founded on the island in 1976 by Tarlach de Blácam and Áine Ní Chonghaile, inspired by the unique spirit, environment and heritage of the place. Tarlach was a graduate in Celtic Languages from Trinity College Dublin and had gone to Inis Meáin in the late sixties like the previous scholars to immerse himself in the language and culture of the island; Áine was a native of Inis Meáin working as a teacher in Dublin in the early ‘70s. When the pair married in 1973, they were determined to make their home on the island. The only question was how to make a living there.

Inis Meáin Knitting Company designs and produces individual, unique pieces of knitwear in the finest yarns, all exquisitely finished by hand. The range is continually updated with new styles as well as variations on customer favorites. Collections are produced in limited quantities.

Off to college, Greek life, learning, getting the tradition: then, inspiring others to step up to quality and achievement; marriage, family, grad school, high-end retail, apprenticed to a neckwear legend, design career, serving and lifting others, gathering the talents of our well-trained next generation and finally…the classic family neckwear business is born!
